The Legend of Prahlad and Holika: The most famous story is of Prahlad, a devotee of Lord Vishnu, and his father, the demon king Hiranyakashipu. Hiranyakashipu despised Vishnu and tried to kill his son for worshipping Him. His sister, Holika, who had a boon of immunity against fire, sat in flames with Prahlad on her lap. However, due to divine intervention, Holika was burned while Prahlad was unharmed. This symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

How is Holi Celebrated?

Holi is a two-day festival with distinct rituals and celebrations across different regions of India.

Day 1: Holika Dahan (Chhoti Holi)

On the eve of Holi, bonfires are lit to symbolize the burning of Holika and the victory of good over evil.

People gather wood and combustible material to create a bonfire around the fire, offer prayers, and seek blessings for prosperity,Happiness.

Day 2: Rangwali Holi (Color-Playing Day)

The main festival day is filled with throwing colors (gulal), Water balloons and pichkaris (water guns) are used for playful fights.

Friends and family visit each other, exchanging sweets and festive greetings.

Special Traditional sweets like gujiya, malpua, thandai, and bhang are enjoyed
